| Jane Austen Weekend
| The Jane Austen weekend will be July 15-17 and we will be renting a casita located near Swan and Sunrise in Tucson. We will meet at 6:30 pm on Friday, July 15, to watch the most recent adaptation of Andrew Davies' Sense and Sensibility and we will provide snacks and drinks for the movie. On Saturday we will get together at 9:00 for a continental breakfast and play Janeite Jepordy. In the afternoon we will decorate our own tea cups and have tea. Laurie will give her presentation on a couple of Wild Georgian Women, and we'll discuss our preference for sense or sensibility. We will go to dinner at one of the restaurants in the area then, if it's not too late, return to the house to watch From Prada to Nada, a modern adaptation of Sense and Sensibility. We will get back together for breakfast on Sunday morning.
The cost is $10 a person if you are just planning to come, and $50 a person if you want to stay at the casita. The tea is potluck so please bring some munchies to share, we will provide the tea. Please let us know if you would like to spend the night at the house; the house has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two twin beds. Also let us know if you have any food allergies or special needs (such as gluten free or kosher) so we can plan accordingly. If you plan to attend any part please respond by July 8.

| Poetry in Jane Austen
| For our September meeting we will be exploring poetry in Jane Austen's writing. A few of her characters, such as Marianne Dashwood, Anne Elliot, and Captain Benwick discuss their favorite authors and poems. By reading some of the mentioned poetry we hope to gain a deeper understanding of her characters. We will be reading "Castaway" by William Cowper (Marianne's favorite, and the poem that Edward unsuccessflly reads aloud in the film adaptation) and excerpts from "Lady of the Lake" and "Marmion" (two of the poems Anne Elliot and Captain Benwick discuss).

| Discussion of Persuasion
| For our October meeting we will be reading and discussing Jane Austen's book Persuasion. It was her last completed book and published by her brother after her death; there is some debate about how she may have changed it if she had the chance. Please read it (if you haven't read it before you are in for a treat!) and come prepared to discuss.
